Data Lineage

WHERE DOES that come from? That’s a question the “front-end” people always have for the “back-end” people. When a value doesn’t look right on your reports, understanding how that value was calculated can be difficult to find for the “front-end” people, unless you have BICG IMPACT™!

With BICG IMPACT™, you can select a column on a report and trace that column back through the metadata and even into the ETL that populated that data. From there, you have access to walk back through the transformation steps applied to that data, all the way back to the original sourcing of the data. If you are using Informatica to pull from your source systems into your data warehouse staging tables, that means you can take a report column and traverse the lineage all the way back to the tables/columns in the source OLTP system, answering the question, What do I know about my Oracle BI?
