760: Essbase Power-User
This course is made available by BI Consulting Group's strategic partnership with 123OLAP.

This one or two-day course is geared toward users of the Essbase Excel Add-In. Day 1 is for both End-Users and Power-Users; Day 2 is for Power-Users only.

During the first day we show students all the features and tricks for extending the power of Excel into Essbase reporting. We start by familiarizing students with the essential vocabulary and basic understanding of Essbase databases. Next, we move into the mechanics of building reports and explore some of the more advanced features such as the Query Designer and cascading reports, and then finish the class with a hands-on workshop using the customer’s Essbase application. This allows students to tie the concepts learned throughout the day to their own world.

Day two is intended for Power-Users; those wishing to understand more about the possibilities of using Essbase for analysis and building new analytical models. It goes beyond reviewing the Excel Add-In by getting users familiar with some of the back-end processes used in designing and developing Essbase models. We show students how to take existing excel models and reports, and re-model them in Essbase. We also show them the basics of loading data and the calculation capabilities in Essbase. These students leave with the ability to determine additional appropriate uses for Essbase, which helps leverage their investment in the software.
